This long silk scarf is ponge 5 silk which is soft and light. I painted horizontal stripes of emerald dye. When dry I painted horizontal stripes of blue dye across the emerald dye. When dry I then painted horizontal turquoise stripes against the emerald and blue dyes. I then repeated the sequence above. When wet dye is put against dry dye it creates a line similar to a row of stitching. A tartan pattern is created. The square scarf is then steamed to fix the dye. The scarf is then hand washable.
